About games product & publishing roles
Product and publishing roles focus on how a game performs as a product once players are in it. Product managers and product owners decide which features and content to prioritise; live-ops teams plan events, seasons and offers; monetisation specialists design pricing, stores and battle passes; publishing staff manage releases, platform relationships and partner studios; and business development managers find licensing, funding and distribution deals.
These roles are common in mobile and free-to-play studios and at publishers. Listings ask for comfort with data, A/B testing and KPIs such as retention and revenue per player, alongside a real understanding of what players enjoy. Experience with analytics dashboards, roadmapping tools and stakeholder management is usually expected, and business development roles add contract negotiation and an existing network.
