About Tencent UK
Tencent is the Chinese technology group behind WeChat and one of the largest games companies in the world, with stakes in or ownership of many Western studios, including UK-based Sumo Group. In 2022 Tencent Games opened a studio in Liverpool, initially housing members of its global production team.
The Liverpool base supports Tencent's partner studios in developing and finishing their games, rather than operating as a single-title development studio. UK roles linked to Tencent therefore tend to involve production, development support, technical and partnership work, alongside positions within the group's various UK-based studios and investments.
