About Slug Disco Studios
Slug Disco Studios is an independent games developer and publisher based in Liverpool, founded by three school friends to make Empires of the Undergrowth, a real-time strategy game about ant colonies. The game entered Early Access on Steam in December 2017, having been funded by a Creative England grant, crowdfunding and work-for-hire projects, and is published by Hooded Horse.
Slug Disco has since expanded into publishing other independent games, including Pathogenic by Aberrant Labs, released on Steam in 2026, and Retroneer, the debut game from the studio enoom. Its roles span development of its own games, such as programming, design and art, as well as publishing work such as production, marketing and community management.
