Responsibilities
- Build white box versions of areas after consulting with all relevant parties
- Handoff areas to environment art, scripting, combat and cinematics while helping them elevate the experience
- Finalize areas for shipping
- Understand the role an area plays in the composition of the game experience, based on the narrative and design/creative directors briefing
- Know and apply all features and mechanics that are available to the player for exploration
- Reserve space for features that are in development but not available yet
- Be ready to throw away everything you made and start from scratch with a new perspective obtained through previous iterations
- Fix level design related bugs in your own or other peoples' areas
- Make sure the level is always playable and ready to go
Requirements
- A design relevant degree
- Proven commercial experience in video game level design
- Ability to work well as part of a distributed, international team
- An extremely positive can do attitude
- Ability to give and receive feedback
- The ability to efficiently communicate designs through 2D mockups or flowcharts
- Ability to experience the game as a player
- An RPG gamer with a passion for narrative-driven games
Nice to Haves
- A background or degree in: Industrial Design, Architecture, Classical Art or Interaction Design
