Data roles help studios understand how people actually play. Data analysts report on retention, engagement and economy health; data scientists build models for things such as churn prediction, matchmaking or player segmentation; data engineers build the pipelines that collect telemetry and feed it to warehouses and dashboards; and user researchers run playtests, surveys and interviews to find out what players think and where they struggle.
