We are looking for an experienced Technical Designer to turn ambitious level and gameplay ideas into robust, production-ready experiences in Neverland.
This is not a broad design or ideas-only role. We want someone who has delivered high-quality levels, understands what it takes to carry them from blockout to ship, and can build the mechanics, interactions and technical foundations that make them work.
What you will do
Own the technical implementation of levels, encounters and interactive gameplay from prototype through to final delivery
Build and refine mechanics, interactable elements and gameplay logic in Unreal Engine 5
Work closely with Level Design, Engineering, Animation, Art and Audio to turn creative intent into reliable, shippable experiences
Act as the bridge between Design and Engineering, identifying technical risks and solving problems before they block production
Create scalable Blueprint systems and tools that allow designers to build and iterate quickly
Debug, profile and improve gameplay so levels remain performant and dependable
Playtest constantly, refining game feel, co-op interactions and the solo experience
What we are looking for Experience shipping at least one high-quality PC or console game as a Technical Designer
Clear evidence that you have helped deliver levels through production, not only created isolated prototypes
Strong Unreal Engine and Blueprint skills, including gameplay frameworks, debugging and performance awareness
Mechanics you can discuss in detail, from the first prototype through iteration, production and ship
A strong understanding of game feel, 3Cs and how gameplay systems support level design
Experience collaborating directly with engineers and applying sound engineering principles within Unreal
A proactive, practical approach. You identify what needs doing, solve problems and take ownership through to completion
Experience with action-adventure, 3D platforming or co-op games is strongly preferred
C++ literacy is useful but not essential
Ways of working Tuesday to Thursday in our Warrington studio
Monday and Friday at your discretion, though many of us are in the office
Flexible working within core hours, 10:00-16:00
Benefits 25 days holiday plus UK bank holidays
4% company pension scheme
EMI share options for eligible employees
High-spec hardware and software provided
Please include examples showing the mechanics and shipped levels you personally helped implement and deliver.
