We're looking for a Cutscene Director to direct Neverland's cinematic moments, making sure each shot delivers the dramatic beats, comedic punches and moments of wonder needed to bring the story to life.
Neverland lives or dies on its cinematics. This is one of the most important creative roles in the studio, and we want someone who can bring our cinematics to the highest level.
What you'll do
- Own the cinematic vision for Neverland, working alongside the Game Directors and Animation team to turn story beats into shot-by-shot plans
- Lead the cinematic animation team, guiding shots, blocking, performance and timing
- Animate the hero shots yourself: the moments that need the very best craft
- Direct voice talent and shape the comedic and emotional rhythm of Neverland's storybook tone
- Pull cinematics together with Audio, Music and Lighting so they land as complete theatrical moments
- Edit and polish the final cut, finalising pacing, transitions and narrative flow
- Build the cinematic pipeline as the team grows, including selecting tools, building style guides and establishing review cadence
- Champion handcrafted, animator-led cinematic storytelling
- You're deeply experienced. You've directed or led cinematics on shipped AAA games, and you've done it at a level we can point to
- A reel that shows handcrafted, animator-led storytelling, comedic timing, emotional weight, theatrical craft and a real sense of wonder
- You're hands-on with the cinematic toolkit, including Maya, Unreal Sequencer and motion editing
- A directorial eye for composition, blocking, pacing and performance
- The language to talk through your ideas with writers, animators, audio designers and voice actors
- You can animate hero shots yourself to the highest standard
- You're a natural collaborator, happy to own the cinematic vision while working alongside Game Directors, Art and Audio leads
- You give clear, generous direction across creative disciplines
- You want to be the cinematic mind of a small studio, not one of many at a bigger one
- Tuesday to Thursday in our Warrington studio
- Monday and Friday at your discretion, though many of us are in the office
- Flexible working within core hours, 10:00-16:00
- 25 days holiday plus UK bank holidays
- 4% company pension scheme
- EMI share options for eligible employees
- High-spec hardware and software provided
